About Us
Our society advocates for:
| Inclusive communication | Verbal, non-verbal, written, visual? How can we be more accommodating towards different communicative needs and abilities? |
| Collaborative working | For instance, collaborating with the Nursing and Health society promotes team working to achieve a shared goal! (Nursing, Midwifery, Health and Human Science, and Orthoptics) |
| Empowering individuals | The ability to express yourself verbally and non-verbally is empowering in many ways. What does it mean to make a difference in someone else’s life? |
| Staying informed | We raise awareness of the impact of speech and language therapy and important causes that contribute to improving quality of life such as Swallowing awareness day, Dementia week and Mental Health awareness month! |
We also provide academic and social support for all students in the department, bringing together people from all courses and year groups. We will do our best to help with anything - finding your feet in Sheffield, feeling homesick, using the library, accessing resources and referencing are just a few.
